Expérience négative: Facebook/Google Review: In 2024, I had an unprofessional experience with Darryl Watty from Chestnut Park in Kitchener. He booked an appointment but showed up at the wrong time after failing to check his calendar and emails. I was fixing small spots on the ceiling paint, perfecting details after having the whole house professionally repainted for the new buyers. The house had just hit MLS, and I was preparing for an upcoming open house that hadn’t even happened yet when he aggressively knocked on my door. Despite it being his mistake, I politely explained I needed just a few minutes to secure my dogs and get properly dressed, but he refused to wait. I asked several times for the chance to accommodate his client, who had driven 45 minutes, but he continued to refuse. When he finally checked his calendar and emails and realized it was his error, he still didn’t allow his client to view the property. Instead, he escalated the situation by calling my agent, yelling, and threatening to report them to the board. This behavior was unnecessary, disrespectful, and unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend working with someone who handles mistakes like this so poorly.

Before settling on working with him, we interviewed 3 other realtors but we felt the most confident working with Darryl. We are new to the area, so his knowledge of all Waterloo Region, his grounded demeanour, and the ability to explain everything to us is what set him apart. Expérience fantastique: Darryl is a no-nonsense type of agent that does not hesitate to share his knowledge, expertise and – most importantly – his down-to-earth perspectives on various neighbourhoods, houses and developers. Darryl’s candidness helped steer us clear of less-than-stellar neighbourhoods which greatly simplified our search. He kept us away from neighbourhoods that were not well maintained, lacked infrastructure or were shiny and new... but with low build quality and no privacy. He guided us through the types of questions to ask and what to look out for. In terms of finding the right house, Darryl held an initial meeting where he got to know us, understood our lifestyle & budget and learned what we were looking for in our home. He used this information and feedback from viewings to curate the listings we went to view. He advocated being strategic in our viewings so as to not exhaust ourselves driving between cities and to keep us from getting discouraged by viewing a lot of properties that wouldn’t actually work for us. He offered to scout out houses ahead of time if it made sense (though we luckily found our house relatively quickly) and never once pressured us on any house.
