Lots and lots :) Trying to decide which one to represent you can be a huge undertaking. My approach was to find the self-written agent biographies that were available on Real Estate company websites in Nanaimo. Which is where I was going to invest in a rental property; many agents did not have any biographies, which I bypassed considering. After reading at least 25 biographies, I narrowed down to the most suitably candidates to three - based on consideration of the experience / knowledge they can provide. Final review, and then decide on one candidate. Laura Healey – was/is my choice. Cold-called her, introduced myself, and discussed search criteria for rental properties. In short time had access to MLS search criteria by email. Set up 7 viewings for one day, first viewing was the first time meeting Laura and her assistant Morgan, and with-in a few minutes I knew right away that I had made the right choice for a Realtor – personable, friendly…and just how confident she is in her job. Couple of more viewings and then narrowed down to the final decision to purchase and quickly made a purchase offer. Several properties that we viewed I requested some research / details on and in quick time had the info from Laura and/or her assistant. I could write a couple of pages of all the research work Laura and team did on just the one purchase but also on the possible scenarios of different small project ideas, such as rezoning, permits, suite additions, water services, etc. that never came to fruition. Laura also provided valuable information to help make correct decisions to reduce a high-risk purchase. She was completely involved from first viewing to closing – emailing Bank, Conveyance lawyer, Strata manager, etc. Overall, I’m extremely happy with my Real Estate experience with Laura and definitely will contact her again for my next purchase or project, for sure! In addition, since we were buying from another province, we needed our agent to be honest and trustworthy, as if she was buying a home for herself. To say that Laura met these qualities is a complete understatement. Laura first asked many questions about what we wanted in our future Island home She then actively searched for homes that met our criteria. She did not push but guided us with feedback about different areas and types of homes. When our dream Island home came up on the market, she skillfully navigated the very difficult negotiations (as the market was red hot with many bids). With her suggestion that we supply the seller with a personal letter we were picked from the various bids even though we did not have the highest bid.
